2017 Audi A4 – Started in 1995 as a replacement for the aging Audi 80, the A4 is a German compact luxury sedan that slots below the automaker’s mid-size A6 sedan and above the compact A3 sedan, which both share many of the A4’s styling cues — the family resemblance is unmistakable.
2017 Audi A4 Review
The popular Audi A4 is revived for 2017, and the result is a completely modernized sports sedan boasting a bigger, broader, more sharply angled hexagonal grille, new scalloped headlamp clusters with standard HID projectors or as-tested rectangular LEDs surrounded by squared-off LED daytime running lamps, a chip lower front fascia with new corner ports, reshaped LED turn signals in the mirror covers, a familiarly arcing rooftop, a pleasant upswept rear deck lid that no doubt adds the new version’s type-best 0.23 drag coefficient, similarly scalloped LED taillights, and other modest changes all around.

Premium Plus versions add complete LED headlights, heated front seats, Bang & Olufsen audio system with 19 speakers, keyless entry with pushbutton engine start, Audi SOS telematics, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Prestige versions get a navigation system with the 8.3-inch dashboard screen, MMI interface with handwriting recognition, head-up display, blind-spot alert, and Audi’s virtual cockpit, which replaces a traditional gauge cluster with a 12.3-inch LCD display that can be configured to reveal driving data in a variety of ways.
At the front, Audi’s touch “single frame” hexagonal grille is more distinct than before, integrating the four-ring logo neatly into the top three lines. Inside Xenon bulbs replace the halogens that are old.
The just-designed hood flows smoothly down into the shoulder line, lowering the shoreline point. It leaves the A4 looking lower and broader, since the shadow line is consistent from the front to the back of the automobile but additionally, it required some engineering that is quite critical.
2017 Audi A4 Interior
This auto can also be the most recent recipient of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, part Package on Premium Plus and normal Technology of the $3,250 on top-level Prestige versions. As in the TT and Q7 that also offer it, the Virtual Cockpit is a glib presentation of every piece of data a driver could desire – vehicle information, changing a radio station, zooming in and from the sharp Google Earth imaging. Oh yeah, and how quick you are going, too. There’s more good news on the technology front: Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included, as are two USB ports instead of the cable that is proprietary that is old.
The Virtual Cockpit is just among the ways the Audi A4 stays the Mathlete among entry-level luxury sedans. All of the security technologies that was shown on the 2017 Q7 has made its way for this far more popular model, like the Audi Turn Support that slams on the brakes if detectors believe you’re going to turn into oncoming traffic. The adaptive cruise control that is part of the Motorist Support Package can impede for imminent corners, as well as be tied so a surprising drop in speed limits doesn’t catch you to sign the acknowledgment. It is the best system I’ve used.
2017 Audi A4 Engine
The 2.0T line again uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, upgraded to 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, increases of 32 and 15, respectively. It coupled with a 7-speed double clutch automatic transmission. All versions come with Audi drive select that enables the driver to customize gear shift points, directing assistance, and suspension firmness within auto, relaxation, dynamic and individual ways. Audi asserts 0-60-mph in 6.1 seconds with front drive and 5.7 with Quattro. The 2.0T AWD examples we analyzed didn’t feel quite that quick, but we were never left wanting more power. The transmission fires off lightning-quick shifts and reacts immediately to throttle inputs. Quattro delivers special handling on dry roads and an additional measure of security on snowy or wet ones; it’s an option we recommend.
2017 Audi A4 Price
Prices start at $38,250 for the front-drive A4 and rise to $40,350 with all-wheel drive. As examined, our A4—with adaptive suspension, a head- up display and adaptive cruise control—checked in . at $54,500
